Jessamine Stoneman, 89, of 339 E. Jamestown Rd., Greenville, formerly of 8050 S. Canal Rd., Conneaut Lake, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at UPMC Horizon, Greenville.
Jessamine was born in Clark County, AL on June 7, 1922, a daughter of the late George W. and Esther M. (Dolby) James.
On December 31, 1956 Jessamine married Russell H. Stoneman; he preceded her in death on April 16, 1990. She had previously been married to Robert D. Gregg who preceded her in death in April, 1954.
She attended Hartstown Presbyterian Church.
For many years Jessamine worked at Conneaut Lake Park where she was known as the 'French Fry Lady' on the midways French Fry Stand. She had previously been employed in the cafeteria of Conneaut Lake High School. In 1942 she graduated from Lewistown High School. She enjoyed crocheting, was a great cook and a loving mother and step mother to all of her children.
Jessamine is survived by three daughters Cheryl Warner and her husband Jim of Union City, Linda Egli of Villa Rica, GA, Carol Delp of Conneaut Lake, three step children Rebecca Stoneman of Hannibal, MO, Russell H. Stoneman, Jr. and his wife Susan of Fulton, MD, Kathleen Burns and her husband David of Palm Coast, FL, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Jessamine was preceded in death by a son John Michael Gregg, a step daughter Nancy L. Simons, two sisters Reatha Lane, her twin sister June Fetrow and a brother Brantley James.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, July 15, 2011, from 10-11 AM at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ray Martinez, Lead Pastor of Living Waters Church, Meadville, officiating.
Following interment in Shermansville Cemetery, a committal service will be conducted, with Full Military Honors for her son, John Michael Gregg, who passed away April 5, 2011.
