Joan Helen Kardos

Joan Helen (Whitehead) Kardos, 80, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Marquette Hospice House.

Joan was born in North Braddock, on April 24, 1940, a daughter of the late John and Helen (Wraase) Whitehead.

On September 25, 1961, Joan married John H. Kardos; he survives.

Following her high school graduation from Scott High School in North Braddock, Joan graduated from St. Margaret's School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, in 1960. Over the years she was employed by different hospitals and doctors offices in the Pittsburgh area. She retired from the Stepping Stones Program of Meadville Medical Center. Joan was active with Cochranton Library and was involved with the library renovation project. She enjoyed painting with acrylics and had created many beautiful outdoor scenes. Joan will be sadly missed.

In addition to her husband, John, of 58 years, Joan is survived by four children Amy J. Airgood (Bruce) of Ormond Beach, FL, David J. Kardos (Lottie) of Lovettsville, VA, Gregory J. Kardos of Conneaut Lake, Alisa J. Kardos of Charles Town, WV; seven grandchildren Bryan Kardos (Maggie), Eric Kardos, Peyton Kardos, William Airgood (Brittany), Laura Airgood, Tyler Jackson, and Isabelle Jackson.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, August, 2, 2020, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday.
