Joan R. Merchbaker

Joan R. Merchbaker, 77, of Meadville, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018, at home, surrounded by her family.

Joan was born in Meadville, on May 13, 1941, a daughter of the late Carl and Elizabeth (Strack) Siegrist.

On September 21, 1985 Joan married Paul Merchbaker; he predeceased her on October 26, 1990.

In 2002 Joan retired from Quality Markets after 32 years of service, She was a 1960 graduate of Meadville High School. Joan was a social member of VFW Post #2006, American Legion Post #111, Vernon Central and the ICC Club. Her greatest joy was time spent with family, especially during the holidays. She loved preparing and decorating for each holiday. She will be sadly missed.

Joan is survived by three daughters Ruth Ann Luben (Kenneth), Mary Ann Myers (David), Lou Ann Price (Michael), all of Meadville, seven grandchildren Zachary, Kyle, Jonathan, Jason, Kimberly, Kaitlyn, Sarah, three great grandchildren Alexzander, Kendall, Jonathan, her companion Donald Myers of Meadville, sisters Betty Hulbert of Meadville, Trudy Heck of Ohio, brother Chuck Siegrist (Fran) of Arizona, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson Vincent Luben, a great grandson Nathan Myers, sisters Carol, Rita, Mary Lou and Baby Gladys.

Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday from 4-7 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 21, with Pastor Temple Jarrell of New Beginnings Church of God officiating.

Joan will be laid to rest in Brookhouser Cemetery.
