JoAnn Jenkins, 62, of 1139 S. Main Street, Meadville, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Marquette Hospice House, Meadville, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
JoAnn was born in Meadville, on October 3, 1953, a daughter of the late James and RosieLee (Newsome) Jenkins, Sr.
She was an active member of United Faith Fellowship Church where she played the piano and sang in the choir.
JoAnn was employed by the Economic Progress Alliance of Crawford County, formerly known as Crawford County Redevelopment Authority. She previously had been employed by Channellock. A 1971 graduate of Meadville Area High School, JoAnn had a true love for reading. In her earlier years she enjoyed bowling in the Ebonites League.
JoAnn is survived by a son Devon M. Jenkins and his wife Tinecia of Phoenix, AZ, a daughter Aniece Mosley of Meadville, four grandchildren Areanna Jenkins, Ashantia Jenkins, Devon (DJ) Jenkins, Ja'Vonti Keith, a great grandchild Iamai Jenkins, two sisters Faye Wallace and her husband John of Youngstown, OH, Janice M. Jenkins of Meadville, a brother James Jenkins, Jr. of Meadville, seven nieces Stacey Clarett, Tiffany Bryant, Kendra Sparks, Jada and Leah Jenkins-Silvis, Monica Sims, Cathy Taylor-Rush, seven nephews Christopher Wallace, Kevin Thompson, William Taylor, twins Derrell Taylor, Terrell Taylor, Rodney Taylor, James Jenkins-Silvis, her companion Allen Mosley of Meadville, a close friend Denise Abbott of Detroit, MI, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, additional nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by a sister Evelyn Taylor and a nephew John Wallace.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A Going Home Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at United Faith Fellowship Church, 561 State St., Meadville, with Rev. Floyd McClure officiating.
JoAnn will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
