Joanne P. Nageotte, 84, answered God’s call to come home on Monday, July 20, 2015, surrounded by her loving family and strengthened by prayers from Donna and Gina and other family and friends whom she held dear.
Joanne Patricia was born on January 25, 1931, the beloved daughter of Charles and Ruth (McCarthy) Bowler and granddaughter of Marie (Derfus) Bowler.
She was a graduate of the former St. Agatha High School.
She and Richard E. Nageotte shared a long, faithful marriage devoted to each other and dedicated to setting a beautiful example for their children to follow. They loved deeply and shared that love through good times and bad. Her adoring husband accepted his call to be with the Lord in 1997.
She was also preceded in death by her sister Esther Nageotte, her parents and four special guardians.
Joanne left messages of inspiration, expectations, hope and love for her sisters Donna and Gina Nageotte, Aunt Patricia Barnes (George); her children Christy (Edward) Wakefield, twins Rosa and Ruth Nageotte, Michael E. (Sharon) Nageotte, Stephen E. (Belle) Nageotte, Richard A. Nageotte, Philip (Dawn Bartlett) Nageotte; grandchildren Heather, Michael, Ryan (Kristi), Ron, Ben, Elizabeth, Joe, Christopher, Cathy, Zachary, Caitlin, Austin, Johnathon; great grandchildren Melanie, Ryan, Kyra, Gabby, Taylor, J.P., Reagan and Maylin. She kept peace and love in her heart for Diana, Joy and Missy.
Joanne was devout in her faith and recited the Rosary daily. She especially cherished the words to the well known prayer to St. Francis of Assissi, “Grant that we all seek to understand, to console, to love, to give and to pardon…it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.”
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, July 22, from 2-4 and 6-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a Scripture Service will be held at 3:45 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, at 10:00 AM at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, with Fr. Johnathan Schmolt, Pastor of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Joan will be laid to rest next to her husband, Richard, in St. Agatha Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
Contributions to a favorite charity of your choice in her name would be welcomed.
Condolences may be sent directly to the family or shared at www.miznerfuneralhome.com
