John A. Crick, Jr.

John A. Crick, Jr., 79, of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Meadville Medical Center after being hit by an automobile.

 John was born in Pittsburgh, on February 24, 1945, a son of the late John A. "Jack" and Margaret "Peg" (Davies) Crick, Sr.

On April 27, 2001 John married Cris D. McPhearson; she survives.

Following John's graduation from Meadville Area High School in 1964 he enlisted in the US Coast Guard on August 18, 1964. John served his country honorably for the next 30 years, retiring on October 31, 1994. John spent the next 30 years giving back to his community by serving on the Board of Directors of the Salvation Army, as the Transportation Coordinator for DAV (Disabled American Veteran) for over 15 years, volunteering at the Oil Creek and Titusville Railroad Society for over 15 years. He was honored with the 2024 Volunteer of the Year Award. He enjoyed vacation cruises with his wife Cris and attending train shows. John was a very avid reader. 

In addition to his wife Cris of 23 years, John is survived by three sisters Lynne Crick of Meadville, Amanda Crick of Alburquerque, NM, Beverly Sadler (Terry) of Cambridge Springs, sister in law Kim Busching (Joe) of Charlotte, NC, nieces and nephews Myles Busching (Sarah) and their children Colin and Alice, Kiera Parker(Cade), cousins Karen and Clara and his best Coast Guard buddy Mike Gutmiller of Sugar Creek. Plus his friends at the OC&T railroad.

John was preceded in death by his stepson Jeremy McPhearson.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 23rd at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 404 CHESTNUT ST. MEADVILLE, with Pastor Glenn Sadler. Full military honors will follow.
