John M. Loux, 86, of Meadville, formerly of Emmaus, passed away on Tuesday May 17, 2022 at Meadville Medical Center.
John was born in Doylestown, on November 25, 1935, a son of the late Albert and Helen (Harnish) Loux.
He was married to Florence (McKelvey) Loux for 61 years until her death in 2020.
A US Army veteran, John proudly served his country from May 10, 1954 until his honorable discharge on April 26, 1956. Most of his service time was in Giessen, Germany.
John attended Bethel Bible Fellowship Church in Emmaus under the pastorship of Rev. Schoen. He faithfully volunteered with after school programs for the children.
During his life, John had several employment opportunities. He had owned his own business prior to becoming employed by Pitman Corporation in Harleysville. A member of Blue Mountain Bass Masters Club, where he had many friends who shared his passion for the outdoors and fishing, John was also a member of an Archery Club which allowed him to develop his skills and participate in both indoor & outdoor competitions. He enjoyed playing softball in his adult league. After moving to Meadville in 2019 to live with his daughter he enjoyed fishing in Conneaut Lake, attending Silver Sneakers classes at the YMCA, and recently swimming at the MARC. John loved his family deeply. He was a huge support to his wife in her work with special needs adults; these individuals became part of their family; especially Danielle. John cherished memories of his numerous family camping trips to Canada and vacations with his grandchildren in the Outer Banks, NC. He will be remembered as a loving and faithful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be sadly missed
John is survived by a sister Janice Luby; two daughters Brenda McCloskey (William) of Meadville, Kathryn Erdman of Fleetwood; five grandchildren Natalie Scanlon (Shane), Thomas McCloskey, Brian Belskie, Erika Belskie, Morgan Patten; and one great grandchild Adam Scanlon
In addition to his parents and wife, Florence, John was preceded in death by five siblings Robert, Richard, Edward, Cora, and Ronald.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 6, 2022, at Bethel Baptist Church, 418 Elm Street, Emmaus, PA, with Rev. David Schoen officiating.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Meadville Medical Center staff who cared for John in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, take a walk in the woods, offer compassion to animals, marvel at a sunset and let the people in your life know how much you love them. Memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or an environmental / animal welfare organization of the donors choice.
