Jonathon Charles Phelps

Jonathon Charles Phelps, 39, of Meadville, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at home.

Jon was born in Meadville, on September 12, 1980, a son of Shirley (Thellman) Phelps and the late Thomas L. Phelps.

On July 2, 2016, Jon married Kasandra Foltz; she survives.

Jon graduated from Cochranton High School in 1999 and started working for Mowris Tree Service where he learned climbing.  He started and successfully ran his own tree service before working for Thayer Communications for over 10 years.  He then joined IBEW Power Apprentice Program graduating on April 18, 2016 as a Journeyman Lineman.  His 18 years with IBEW Local Union #1319 included often traveling to other parts of the country to help restore power failures caused by extreme weather outages.  He developed and maintained a close bond with his work brothers.  An avid Steelers fan and outdoorsman, Jon enjoyed anything with a fast motor as well as hunting, fishing, shooting and gardening--always staying busy.  His sense of humor could bring a smile to anyone's face.  He was an extremely devoted father and his son, Hunter, was his best friend.  Jon loved spending time with him and his cousin Tyler Phelps.  Jon will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife, Kasandra, Jon is survived by his son Hunter Phelps; a daughter Rion Foltz; his mother Shirley Phelps of Meadville; paternal grandmother Marian L. Phelps of Meadville; sisters Melissa Woodworth (David Cogswell) of Sandy Lake, Debbie Nichols (Greg) of Spencer, WV, and Andrea Brodeur of Topsham, ME; his mother-in-law Syleste Foltz of Meadville; his father in law Howard Foltz of Centerville, and extended family including Cynthia Phelps, Debbie Lowman (Dan), Martha Phelps (Bill Halstead), Kelly Penn, Tyler Phelps, Ryan Phelps (Amanda), Jordan Woodworth (Kayla Lewis) and Deven Woodworth (Carli).

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Phelps and grandparents John G. Phelps, Shirley and Charles Thellman.
