Joseph Anthony Dividio, 90, of 11141 Charles St., Meadville, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Meadville Medical Center.
Joseph was born in Meadville on February 14, 1920, a son of the late Louis and Rose (DeMottea) Dividio.
On October 8, 1955 Joseph married Lucy Funciello; she survives.
He was a life-long member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, served as an usher and was a member of the former Holy Name Society. As a young child, he served as an Altar Boy.
In 1984 Joseph retired from Seco-Warwick which was formerly known as Westinghouse and Sunbeam Corp. He had previously been employed by Middletown Airport. He was a 1940 graduate of Meadville High School. On July 27, 1944 Joseph entered the US Army and served his country honorably until his discharge on July 2, 1946. A member of the Eat and Travel Club, he was also a member of the Meadville Eagles Club. His hobbies included trapping, golfing, tending to his flower and vegetable gardens. He always had a smile on his face whether at work, home or church. Joseph will be remembered as a devoted man who volunteed countless hours, along the side of his wife, to the YWCA and to St. Mary Church. Some of his happiest memories were of times spent hosting numerous extended family dinners in which everyone looked forward to having his home made wine. Josephs love for wine making was passed down to him from his father and Joseph enjoyed passing it down to his children, nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his wife Lucy of 55 years, Joseph is survived by two daughters Cynthia 'Cindy' R. Garber and her husband Todd W. of Newnan, GA, Rebecca 'Becky' Potts and her companion Tim Smith of Meadville, six granddaughters Amber VanDusen, Christina Bard and her husband Alex, Lindsey A. Rivers and her husband Jason, Brittany E. Garber, Sarah Potts, Elizabeth Garber, 2 great grandsons Jonas G. VanDusen, Rylan Z. Bard, two sister Rose Dividio, Theresa 'Terri' SanFelice both of Erie, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by a son Daniel J. Dividio, three brothers Anthony J. Dividio, Angelo Dividio, Sam Dividio, Three sisters Ann Marie Gergley, Rachel Mott and an infant Angelina Dividio.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA 16335 where a scripture service will be conducted at 3:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, at 10:00 AM on Friday with Fr. Mark Solomon, Pastor, officiating.
Entombment with full Military Honors will take place in St. Brigd Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
