Joseph G. Krupski, 89, of 18874 Broadford Rd., Saegertown, passed away, at home, on Sunday, September 15, 2013 surrounded by his family.
Joseph was born in Ambridge, on March 12, 1924, a son of the late Stanley and Pauline (Szmyd) Krupski.
On January 28, 1950 Joseph married Winifred M. Theuret; she survives.
He was a founding member of St. Bernadettes Roman Catholic Church, Saegertown.
In 1986 Joseph retired from Channellock, Inc., where he had been employed as a machinist. A veteran of WW II, Joseph entered the US Army on February 27, 1943 where he served his country with the 1150th Base Unit, until his honorable discharge on November 17, 1945. He was awarded the American Theater Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. Although Joseph quit school to enter the Service, he was very proud to have been awarded his High School diploma at the age of 82. A former member of the Polish National Alliance and of Saegertown Sportsman Club, Joseph was a member of the Saegertown American Legion Post #205, where he served as Chaplain for many years. Joseph was a talented, self-taught harmonica player. His other hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening and wood working. He had a deep love for all his family, especially his grandchildren and we will miss him.
In addition to his wife, Winifred, of 63 years, Joseph is survived by three daughters Elaine M. Laniewicz and her husband Richard, Marlene S. Yarnall and her husband John, Jo-Ann Jaskiewicz and her husband Michael all of Erie, four grandchildren Dr. Natalie Laniewicz and her husband John McGeary of Fort Worth, TX, Michelle Schreckengost and her husband Bill of Erie, Joseph G. Yarnall of Wilmington, NC, Lauren Yarnall and her fiance Kurt Orton of Erie, five great grandchildren Kaylah and Iain McGeary, Garrett Laniewicz, Grace Schreckengost, Rylee Orton, and Baby McGeary due to be born in March, 2014, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by a sister Nellie Zalewsky, four brothers William, John, Walter and Kaiser Krupski.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, from 4-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a scripture service will be held at 5:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Bernadettes Roman Catholic Church, Renner Ave., Saegertown, with Fr. David Poulson, Pastor, officiating.
Interment with Full Military Honors by VFW Post # 2006 will take place in St. Agatha Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
