Josephine Roda

Josephine F. Roda, 94, of 787 North St. Meadville, passed away Saturday, January 2nd, 2010 at the home of her daughter, Theresa.
Josephine was born in Chicago Heights, IL on January 4, 1915, a daughter of the late George and Joan (Locascio) Stanfa.
On June 26, 1935 Josephine married Dominic 'Don' Roda; he preceded her in death on September 28, 2005.
She was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Meadville, and its Altar Rosary Society.
A 1932 graduate of St. Michaels Catholic School in Greenville, Josephine moved to Meadville with her husband and daughters in 1946. Over the years she had been employed by the former Talon, Inc. of Meadville in Plant #7, the former Sears, the former J.C. Penny and the former Toy World. Most recently she enjoyed volunteering behind the counter of her grandsons store, J. Amato & Son, where she was able to visit with many friends and acquaintances. She was a member of the I.C.C. Auxiliary. Josephine loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Josephine is survived by two daughters Theresa Amato and her husband John, JoAnn Mitchell and her husband Loyd 'Mitch' both of Meadville, three grandchildren Gina Amato, John Amato and his wife Terri, Kathleen Knapp and her husband Dr. Christopher Knapp, 3 step-grandchildren Karen Habada and her husband John, Elly Rush, Tom Mitchell, 11 great grandchildren Andrew Amato, Kayleigh Cirka and her husband Brian, Joseph, Teresa, Elizabeth and Gina Amato, Monica, Dominic, Matt, Michael and Johnna Knapp, 2 step great grandchildren Veronica Nicholas and her husband Andy, Matt Rush, two step great great grandchildren twins Ava and Jackson Nicholas, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband Dominic 'Don' of 70 years, Josephine was preceded in death by a sister Sara Stanfa, two brothers Joseph and James Stanfa.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 3-7 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335 where a scripture service will be conducted at 6:45.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 with Fr. Richard J. Toohey, Pastor, officiating.
Entombment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
