Joyce A. Stevens

June 11, 1947 — March 9, 2017

Joyce A. Stevens

Joyce A. Stevens, 69, of Meadville, passed away after a short but courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Marquette Hospice House, Meadville.

Joyce was born in Meadville, on June 11, 1947, a daughter of the late Donald L. and Eva (Spencer) Miller.

She had been married to David L. Stevens.

Joyce was an active member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.

A 1965 graduate of Meadville High School, Joyce earned her Paralegal Certification from Penn State, Behrend.  She was a member of the Market House Authority and volunteered countless hours for many community organizations and activities.  Joyce was honored to be asked to be the Irish Rose for this year’s St. Patrick's Day Parade.  Over the last ten years she took up golfing and regularly teed off with her golf league friends.  In her later years she also developed a deep love of traveling, having traveled to Italy, Greece, the Caribbean  and many trips to the ocean.

For more than 30 years Joyce was employed as a Paralegal in the Law Office of Watts and Pepicelli.  She loved helping clients and their families and continued to work up until her last days even having a computer installed at home for when she could not make it into the office.

For decades she was instrumental in the Thurston Classic serving in a multitude of positions within the organization.  She was proud of the Thurston and what it meant to the community and genuinely enjoyed the committee, the pilots and all the volunteers and sponsors.  It was truly one of her passions.  Every year was going to be her last, but it never was.

Throughout many years Joyce was blessed with a very special group of friends with whom she maintained a great relationship.  She delighted in her family.  Joyce was so proud that both of her children graduated from St. Bonaventure University.  She was equally proud of her four grandchildren and she enjoyed attending all of their school and sporting events.  She will be greatly missed.

Joyce is survived by a son Mark D. Stevens and his wife Jennifer, a daughter Amanda L. Dillaman and her husband Martin, both of Meadville, four grandchildren Jack Stevens, Patrick Stevens, Eva Dillaman, Maxwell Dillaman, and a cousin Jim Miller of Meadville.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Eva Miller.
