Joyce Heitzer

Margaret Joyce Heitzer, 84, of Meadville, passed away suddenly, Friday, August 21, 2020, at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center, Erie.

Joyce was born in Punxsutawney, on December 19, 1935, a daughter of the late Charles and Josephine (Brown) Vitello.

On November 10, 1956 Joyce married Frances "Buzz" Heitzer at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anita; he preceded her in death on December 28, 2018.

She had been a member of St. Brigid Church.

Joyce retired from Crawford Central School District where she was employed as secretary of Neason Hill Elementary School. She had previously been in the banking industry for over 25 years working in Meadville and Punxsutawney. Following her retirement she enjoyed volunteering at Meadville Medical Center. Joyce also enjoyed motorcycle trips with her husband, Buzz, and their friends as well as gardening, reading, sewing, and camping. Joyce loved her family deeply and they brought much fun and joy into her life.

Joyce is survived by three children Terri Robbins (David), Michael "Mike" Heitzer, David "Dave" Heitzer (Renee); six grandchildren Kristine, Jackie (Zack) and Jacob, children of Dave and Renee; Shawn (Sara) and Sarah, children of Terri and Dave; and Caine son of Mike; three great grandchildren Chloe, daughter of Kristine; Logan, son of Shawn and Sara; and Nathan, son of Jackie and Zack. She is further survived by two sisters Sally Sallier of Texas and Jodi Conway of Maryland.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Buzz, of 62 years, Joyce was preceded in death by a sister Jean Reken.

While following CDC guidelines, visitation is Wednesday, August 26, 2020, from 1-3 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM with Fr. Jeff Lucas, Pastor of St. Brigid, officiating.

Joyce will be laid next to her husband, Buzz, in St. Brigid Cemetery.
