Judy Lorraine Downing, 58, of 15486 Woodrow Dr., Meadville, passed away Monday, December 30th, 2013, at home.
Judy was born in Pittsburgh on October 7, 1955, a daughter of John and Jessie (Spencer) Almasi.
On July 16, 1977 Judy married Dr. Timothy M. Downing, MD; he survives.
She was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.
Judy was employed as the Office Administrator at Meadville Pediatrics, PC. She had previously been employed by Allegheny College as a Chemistry Lab Instructor and by Free-Col Laboratories where she worked both as a Chemist as well as in Human Resources and Personnel. In her earlier years Judy was employed as a Chemist for Gulf Research in Harmarville. A 1973 graduate of Gateway High School, Monroeville, Judy went on to further her education by earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and Biology from Gannon University and later earned her Masters Degree in Education from Duquesne University. Judy will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She particularly enjoyed and delighted in her three grandchildren, Owen, Clara and Sammy. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband Timothy of 36 years, Judy is survived by three daughters Elizabeth Ferguson and her husband Andrew, Sarah Gramc and her husband Joseph, Laura Downing, all of Pittsburgh, three grandchildren Owen Ferguson, Clara Ferguson, Samuel Gramc, her parents John and Jessie Almasi of Monroeville, two sisters JoAnn Suchko and her husband Eric of Greensburg, Janice Almasi of Lexington, KY a brother John C. Almasi and his wife Karin of Melbourne, FL, numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 3, 2014, with Fr. Marc Solomon, Pastor, officiating.
Entombment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
