Karen Sue Smith

Karen Sue Smith, 61, of Meadville, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center.

Karen was born in Fort Knox, KY on August 25, 1959, a daughter of the late Edward Lee and Genevieve June (Peters) Smith, Sr.

She had been married to Jesus Manuel Gonzalez.

Karen was employed by T-J's Pizza for 15 years and had previously been employed by Allegheny College for five years. She was a 1977 graduate of Union City High School. Karen's family was very important to her. The Christmas season was her favorite time of year. Family gatherings brought her much joy. She loved shopping for and gifting to her children and grandchildren. Karen also loved her cockatiels Wayward, Petrie, Elvis and Boomer.

Karen is survived by four children Jamie Gonzalez of Union City, Kami Gonzalez of Port St. Lucie, FL, Tarra Frantz, Billy Frantz, Jr., both of Meadville; eight grandchildren; two sisters Kathy Ann Smith of Meadville, Karrie Lynn Eells of Espyville; two brothers Edward Lee Smith Jr. of Riceville, and Terry Gene Smith of Union City.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Marina Frantz just two days ago.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4-6 PM on Friday, July 16, 2021, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will follow at 6 PM.

Karen will be laid to rest in Rootville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Karen's memory to the funeral home.
