Kathryn "Kathy" Gale Wetzel

Kathryn "Kathy" Gale Wetzel, 61, of Saegertown, formerly of Mill Hall, passed away at home on March 6, 2015, following a brief illness with cancer.

Kathy was born in Lock Haven on November 10, 1953 a daughter of the late Gerald and Constance (Peasley) Shady, Sr.

On November 24, 1971 Kathy married Kenneth E. Wetzel. They celebrated 43 wonderful years of marriage together.

She was a member of Saegertown United Methodist Church.

Most recently Kathy had been employed driving bus for Clair J. Ferry, Inc., a job she truly enjoyed, especially when transporting students on their extra curricular trips. Some of her other jobs included working for two family businesses, Wetzel Brothers Lumber Company and Advanced Precast Concrete Company. While in high school, she was employed at a local creamery, Herr's and then on to "General Armature". She was a 1971 graduate of Lock Haven High School. She enjoyed gardening. Kathy loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. She was a stay at home mom while her daughter was growing up, and many years later she became a stay at home grandma because she said "it was my job to be a grandma". She took great pleasure in attending all of their activities. She loved the time spent with them as well as all of her family.

In addition to her husband, Ken, Kathryn is survived by a daughter Becky K. Barner and her husband Samuel E. Barner, Jr. of Saegertown, two grandchildren Rachel and Nathan Barner, two sisters Debra Eisenhower and her husband Robert of Mill Hall, Sherry Welshann and her husband David of Winfield, a brother Gerald Shady, Jr. and his wife Laurie of Kunkletown, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, March 8, 2015, from 1:30-3:30 at Saegertown United Methodist Church, 630 Euclid Ave., Saegertown, where Funeral Services will be held at 3:30 PM with Rev. Darrell L. Greenawalt, Pastor, officiating.

Kathryn will be laid to rest in Saegertown Cemetery, Hayfield Twp.
