Kathryn M. Burke

Kathryn M. Burke, 58, of 476 Randolph St., Apt. 3, Meadville, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018, at UPMC Medical Center, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County.

Kathryn was born in Spokane, WA on July 19, 1959.

Kathryn had a smile and laugh that could light up a room. She loved to sing and dance. She believed that kindness and sincerity was to be given to everyone. She lent a hand and her heart to so many people. Kathryn loved her children and was their angel. She was a strong and compassionate mom. Kathryn wanted great things for her kids and knowing that, each one of them strived for their version of a fantastic life due to her. Through her mothering and nurturing they were able to hold onto this image of what a great mom looks like and carry that within them forever. Kathryn taught through her actions that compassion is so simple to give, and that you shall give it with grace to others. She would have wanted her friends and family to smile, open their eyes, and go on knowing she is watching over them. Kathryn passed away how she lived, everyone’s friend.

For the past ten years Kathryn made her home in Meadville, and devoted her time working and volunteering at CHAPS.   She served as a Drop In Center Manager, answered the Warmline and volunteered as a receptionist.  Her warm greeting made each person feel welcome as they walked through the doors.  Her gentle spirit, generosity and kind heart touched countless lives over the years.  She will be dearly missed by all at CHAPS, but she will forever remain in their hearts.

Kathryn is survived by three children Chris Burke, Jr. and his wife Deedra of Henderson, NV, Amanda Burke and her husband Scott of Spanaway, WA, Erik Burke and his wife Lisa of Spanaway, WA, three grandchildren, two sisters Patti Schroeder and her husband Don, Sarah Dunn both of Ft. Worth, TX, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a niece Kristen Schroeder.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 25, at 10:30 AM, at CHAPS, 944 Liberty St., Meadville.

Arrangements are under the direction of STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
