Kenneth 'Ken' R. Kightlinger

Kenneth 'Ken' R. Kightlinger, 69, of 453 E. Henry St., Meadville, passed away at home on Monday, July 23rd, 2012, following a courageous three year battle with cancer.
Ken was born in Meadville, on March 5, 1943, a son of Elizabeth (Hubert) and the late Raymond Kightlinger.
On November 16, 1963, Ken married Gerry Davidson; she survives.
He was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, Meadville, where he served as an Eucharist Minister.
After 35 years of service, Ken retired in October, 2005, from PPG Industries where he had been employed as a computer operator in the Tank Department of Crew 3. From 1969-1970 he had been employed by American General Life Insurance Company and from 1962-1969 he had been employed by the former American Viscose Corp. He was a 1961 graduate of St. Agatha High School. Ken was a life member of the Meadville Elks Lodge #219, a member of the Black Ash Sportsman Club, the National Rifle Association (NRA) and a former Cub Scout Master of Seton School Troop #209. His hobbies included spending time on the water fishing and in the woods hunting.
In addition to his wife Gerry of 48 years, Ken is survived by his son and favorite daughter-in-law Rob and Renee Kightlinger of Meadville, his mother Elizabeth Kightlinger of Meadville, a brother Tom Kightlinger and his wife Peggy of Wichita Falls, TX, their son Michael Kightlinger, two sisters-in-law Rosey Thomas, Katy Stewart and her husband Jim both of Meadville, 'grandchildren' Leah and Adam Bronson of Conneaut Lake, Abigail and Rebecca Mehring of Bloomfield, NJ, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his father, Raymond Kightlinger, Ken was preceded in death by a nephew, Mark Nicholson.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where an Elk Service will be conducted at 7 PM and a scripture service at 7:45 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 26th, 2012, with Fr. Mark OHern, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus, Erie, and Fr. James Piszker, Pastor of Mercyhurst College, Erie, officiating.
Entombment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., or Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute 16792, Conneaut Lake Road or Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine Street, all of Meadville, PA 16335.
