Laura Jane Huff

Laura Jane Huff, of Union City, went home on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, surely into the arms of the love of her life, Dick; her parents; siblings; and beloved aunt. She quietly drifted away from her uncooperative body and limitations. After 100 years on this earth, she earned her rest, and did not mourn her homegoing.

Jane was born in Meadville, on May 13, 1922, a daughter of the late Earl Martin and Hazel Ruth (Stull) Boyd.

On August 20, 1943 Jane married Thomas Richard "Dick" Huff; he preceded her in death on August 11, 2007.

She was of the Methodist faith.

A 1940 graduate of Meadville High School, Jane was also a 1942 graduate of Meadville Commercial College. During WW II she was employed as an executive secretary by the former Talon, Inc. After taking some time off to raise her family, Jane became employed by Allegheny College in 1959, where she worked as secretary to the Director of the College Union. She was dedicated to her work there and became known as "Mighty Jane". She retired in 1988. When Jane wasn't working, her family encompassed her life. Jane had a great sense of humor and had a fond appreciation for all the teasing her family gave her. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

Jane is survived by two children Charlene Shreve, with whom she lived, Mary Lou Arthur (Richard) both of Union City, five grandchildren Kristie M. Speakman (Benjamin J.), Christopher M. Arthur, Andrew M. Arthur (Praneetha), Jonathan M. Arthur (Renee'), Benjamin B. Arthur (Jacquelin); seven great grandchildren Elaina Marie Arthur, Audrey Arthur, Madeline Borland, Hendrix Speakman, Sunny Speakman, Sunil Arthur, Rohan Arthur; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband Dick, of nearly 64 years, Jane was preceded in death by two sisters Thelma Terrill, Margaret Bradley; a brother Captain Rexford Boyd, who died during WW II serving his country as a fighter pilot; two sons in law Arnold Mel Weilacher and Edward W. Shreve.

Private services will be held by the family.

Jane will be laid to rest next to her husband, Dick, in Greendale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jane's memory to Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty St., Meadville, PA 16335.

Arrangements are under the direction of STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
