Laurel L. Koehler, 66, of Saegertown, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at home, with her family by her side.

Laurel was born in Erie, on May 17, 1955, a daughter of Donna (Ballman) and the late Frank Vaughn.

On April 21, 1994, Laurel married James R. Koehler; he survives.

Laurel was a 1973 graduate of Strong Vincent High School, Erie. In 1995 she and Jim established Beaver Log Home Sales in Saegertown. In 2007 she achieved her dream of expanding the business by opening the Trading Post Gift Shop. She had a knack for home decorating and loved running her business and interacting with her customers. Each year she looked forward to helping her family set up large Christmas light displays that would be enjoyed by her family as well as the community. She enjoyed antique collecting and shopping, cooking, canning, and reading. Laurel had a deep interest in Native American artifacts and looked forward to attending Native American Pow Wows. Her family was the most important thing in her life and she delighted in time spent with them. She will be sadly missed.

In addition to her husband, James, of 27 years, Laurel is survived by three children Tammy Pietras (fiance' Ralph), Tirissa Clemente (fiance' Cameron) both of Erie, Amy Koehler of Saegertown; two grandchildren Ashley and Alexa; two step children Tim and Stacey; her mother Donna Vaughn; a sister Cindy Dunn, both of Erie; two nephews David and Jason.

She was preceded in death by her father Frank Vaughn.

Private family services will be held.

Laurel will be laid to rest in Saegertown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Laurel's memory to the funeral home.
