Lawrence 'Larry' McQueen, 91, of 20881 State Hwy. 198, Saegertown, passed away Wednesday, November 7th, 2012 at Crawford County Care Center.
Larry was born in Remus, MI on July 10, 1921, son of the late Archibald and Lucille McQueen.
On February 14, 1967 Larry married Betty Pauline Bradway; she preceded him in death on October 23, 2002. He had previously been married to Betty Moser who died in 1999 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
After 49 years of service Larry retired in 1986 as a self-employed, professional truck driver. In 1988 following his retirement he began his own Lawn mowing, Snow plowing and Firewood cutting business from which he retired in 2004. An Army Air Corps veteran during WW II, Larry entered active service on November 19, 1940 and served his country honorably until his discharge on December 10, 1948. He was a lifetime member of Venango VFW Post # 205, Cambridge Springs American Legion Post #38, the 40 and 8 Club and the Saegertown American Legion Post #205 where he had served as past Post Commander. He enjoyed woodworking.
Larry is survived by his children Lawrence McQueen, II and his wife Carol of Linesville, Nancy Robinson and her husband Randy of Grand Rapids, MI, Linda Bennett and her husband Jack of Grand Rapids, MI, Dan Trace and his wife Connie of Meadville, Bob Trace and his wife Mary of East Springfield, Joan Shade and her husband Blane of Meadville, Diane Buckley of Ferdonia, Paula Huson and her husband Arnell of Saegertown, two step-daughters Dana Weatherwax and Paula Buckley both of Grand Rapids, MI, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife Betty of 35 years, Larry was preceded in death by a daughter Terri Lu, a son Arnold Trace, Jr., a daughter in law Cindy Trace, three grandchildren, a great grandchild, six brothers and sisters, Bob McQueen, Ferris (Fuzzie) McQueen and his wife Joan, Marvin McQueen and his wife Dee, Betty Johnson and her husband Johnny, Margaret and Harold McQueen.
Funeral Services with Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 9, 2012 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 330 Broad St., Saegertown, with Rev. Mark Rusnak of AseraCare Hospice officiating. Following the service, visitation will take place from 3-4:30 PM.
Interment will take place in Ewing Cemetery, East Mead Twp.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Unit of the Crawford County Care Center, 20881 State Hwy. 198, Saegertown, PA.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to AseraCare Hospice as well as to the staff of the Alzheimers Unit of the Crawford County Care Center, especially Shirley and Shane, for the wonderful care they provided.
