Lester E. Abbott

Lester E. Abbott, 94, of Saegertown passed away, Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Crawford County Care Center.

Lester was born in Hindsdale, NY on May 24, 1928, the son of the late Floyd and Opal (Dundon) Abbott.

On July 28, 1990 he married Vera Joan Abbott. she preceded him in death on August 10, 2012. He previously married Betty Mitich on Dec. 4, 1948, she preceded him in death on April 23, 1983.

He was a member of Saegertown Community Church.

Lester retired Sept. 1, 1985 from the former Abex Corp after 37 years of service where he was employed as a machine operator. In 1948 he graduated from Saegertown High School. He was a member of Saegertown Sportsman Club. His hobbies included hunting and wood working.

Lester is survived by a daughter Judy Loper of Saegertown; a daughter in law Kathleen Abbott of Saegertown; step-sons Wayne Weikal (Vicki) of Cochranton, Ronald Weikal (Linda) of Venango; four grandchildren Ronald Abbott, Jennifer Rough, Lisa Heim and Matt Loper; four step-grandchildren, Steve, James, Justin and Danielle Weikal; five great grandchildren Isaac, Wyatt and Weiss Heim, Kyle and Rina Rough; step-great grandchildren; brother Walter Abbott of Sheakleyville; nieces and nephews.

Lester was preceded in death by a son Ronald E. Abbott, infant son Lester Edward Abbott, Jr.; a sister Marie Throop; brothers Louie and Lorenzo Abbott; half-brothers Alton, Floyd and Clyde Abbott; and a half-sister Anna Mook.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, from 11 AM-1:30 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 330 BROAD ST., SAEGERTOWN, where Funeral Services will follow at 1:30 PM with Pastor Richard Haemer officiating.

Lester will be laid to rest in Venango Cemetery.
