Linda Jean Hamilton, 61, of 21697 Star Route, Meadville, passed away, Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
Linda was born in Meadville on April 30, 1952, a daughter of the late Robert 'Ace' and Gertrude 'Gert' (Vega) Hornstein.
On June 17, 1972 she married Gary F. Hamilton; he survives.
Linda was currently employed by the Pennsylvania State Police, Meadville, as a Communications Officer. She had previously been employed by Erie Industrial Electric and the Crawford County District Attorneys office. Linda was a 1970 graduate of Meadville High School. She enjoyed baking, cooking, knitting, playing cards each month with her card club and spending time with family and friends at 'the cottage'. In addition to being a mother to her children, who she loved very much, she was also known as 'Mother Linda' to many friends and coworkers at the PA State Police Barracks in Meadville. Lindas greatest passion in life was spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Gary, of 41 years, Linda is survived by a daughter Marcie Ann Pifer and her companion Shawn Rhoades of Meadville, a son Matthew A. Hamilton and his wife Kate of West Springfield, MA, five grandchildren Kayla, Morgan and Sara Pifer, Dillon and Luke Hamilton, three brothers Ronald Hornstein and his wife Carole, David Hornstein and his wife Judy, Tom Hornstein and his wife Christy all of Meadville, nieces and nephews James Hornstein of AK, Jeff Hornstein and his wife Rebecca of Meadville, Shawn Hornstein and his wife Jackie of Pittsburgh, Holly Ruggiere of TX, Alicia, Samantha and Libby Hornstein of Meadville and best friend Sally Howles of Venango.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by a brother William Hornstein.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 3-7 PM and also on Saturday, from 11-1 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor Kenneth Hough of Watson Run Church of God officiating.
Interment will take place in Greendale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
