Loie Etta Shaw, 99, of 20881 State Hwy. 198, Saegertown, formerly of 421 Main St., Saegertown, passed away Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011, at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown.
Loie was born in Saegertown, on January 1, 1912, a daughter of the late William Elmer Washington and Eva Adeline (Fox) Lilly.
On June 29, 1957 Loie married Earl Shaw; he preceded her in death on March 12, 1969. She had previously married Warren Best on June 21, 1929; he preceded her in death on August 3, 1954.
Over the years Loie had been employed as a cook and waitress at several Saegertown and Meadville restaurants including the former Bills Diner, Parkway Diner, David Mead Inn and Riccis Restaurant, from which she retired. An excellent baker, she was especially know for her homemade pies while working at Bills Diner.
Loie is survived by two daughters Laura Ladner and her husband Alan of Meadville, Florence Lowe of Saegertown, a stepson Earl David Shaw of North Carolina, five grandchildren, three step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren, six step great great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law Frances Best of Meadville, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Loie was preceded in death by a son Lawrence Best, two stepsons Thomas Shaw, John Shaw, a step great granddaughter Shauna Brawley, two sisters and three brothers.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 330 Broad St., Saegertown, where Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Kenneth Custer, Pastor of Saegertown United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will take place in Brookhouser Cemetery, Saegertown.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
