Lois Jean McDonough

Lois Jean McDonough, 92, of Saegertown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Marquette Hospice House.

Lois was born in Meadville, on March 16, 1932, to the late Willard and Lula (Phillips) Shorts.

On February 3, 1951, Lois married the love of her life, Joseph "Joe" M. McDonough, Jr.; he preceded her in death on March 28, 2018.

Lois graduated from Saegertown High School in 1949. She worked at Westinghouse for several years and then for the family business, Saegertown Pattern Co., until 1978. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. A member of Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, she was also a lifelong member of Saegertown Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She enjoyed working in her yard, cooking, and spending time with her family, especially with her great grandson, Travis, who was her pride and joy.

Survivors include a daughter Kathleen Koket (Jeff) of Saegertown; granddaughter Jennifer Mudger (Jason); a great grandson Travis Mudger, all of Meadville, great grandson Logan Walker of Cochranton; niece Lisa Foshay (Chris) of VA; nephew John McDonough of Cochranton; aunts Mary Jane OKruch (Ed) of Russell, Patty Osche (Ron) of Warren; also Sabrina Kareha (Ross) of Hartstown who was like family; special neighbors Mark and Marisa Phelan, Mark and Anna Maurana, all of Saegertown. Lois was blessed with a long and wonderful life, and she in turned blessed those around her. She will be missed by many.

In addition to her parents, and beloved husband Joe, of 67 years, Lois was preceded in death by her step father.

Family and friends are invited to call from 1-3 PM on Monday, March 10, 2025, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 330 BROAD ST., SAEGERTOWN, where a Funeral Service will follow at 3 PM with Susan Slote officiating.

Lois will be laid to rest next to her husband, Joe, in Saegertown Cemetery.
