Lorraine Mckim

Lorraine McKim, 93, of 9108 State Hwy. 198, Conneautville, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Meadville Medical Center.
Lorraine was born in Sadsbury Twp. on August 10, 1918, a daughter of the late J. Walter and Elda (Smock) Onspaugh.
On May 22, 1947 Lorraine married Walter P. McKim; he preceded her in death on December 24, 1999. For 56 years they resided at 16500 State Hwy. 98, Meadville.
She was a member of Littles Corners United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir. She was also a member and former secretary of the United Methodist Women (U.M.W.).
Following her 1935 graduation from Meadville High School, Lorraine became employed by the former Powell Dairy on South Street, then the former G.C. Murphy Co. of Meadville. On April 5, 1937 she began her telephone operator career at the former Keystone Ordnance. In 1943 she started her employment for Southwestern Bell in Belleville, IL before transferring to Bell Telephone of PA in Meadville where she worked for 35 years, retiring on November 1, 1980. Lorraine enjoyed traveling, reading, baking pies and spending time with her family and many friends. In her earlier years she loved riding horses, swimming and on two occasions, swam across Conneaut Lake. For more than 30 years she was an active member of the E.M.O. (Erie-Meadville-Oil City) Telephone Pioneers of America where she served as Past President. A resident of Rolling Fields since 2009, Lorraine loved her caregivers and enjoyed many activities there, especially checkers.
Lorraine is survived by a daughter Karen L. McKim of Linesville, a grandson Brian P. Crecraft and a great granddaughter Lorie Raye Crecraft, both of Maryland.
In addition to her parents and her husband Walter of 52 years, Lorraine was preceded in death by a son Kevin James McKim and a sister Ellen Onspaugh Predmore.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-7 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where the Ladies Telephone Pioneer Group will conduct a service at 5:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 12, 2012, at Littles Corners United Methodist Church, 16352 State Hwy. 198, Saegertown, with Pastor Lea Guiney officiating.
Interment will take place in Melat Cemetery, Rockland Twp.
