Louis "Louie" J. Kosan

Louis "Louie" J. Kosan, Jr., 86, of 12851 Raymond Drive, Meadville, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Marquette Hospice House, Meadville.

Louie was born in Cleveland, OH on December 19, 1929, a son of the late Louis J. and Helen G. (Bene) Kosan, Sr.

On October 19, 1985, he married Joyce "Joy" D. Burt; she survives.

Louie was a member of Local Union #964 for over 50 years. During this time he also worked for Rodney DeVore Construction Co. and was a partner with Gary Baker. He later worked at the former Sandy's European Market where he was in charge of the Produce Department. In the winter months, Louie could be found volunteering his time snow plowing several driveways for neighbors and friends. He was known as the mayor of Raymond Drive. A member of the Eagles Club #429, Meadville Elks BPOE #219, Masonic Lodge #234, Kismet Grotto, Zem Zem Shrine and the Knights of Columbus Council # 388, he was a former member of The Meadville Club for several years. He enjoyed deer hunting. Louie will be remembered as a hard worker.

In addition to his wife Joy of 30 years, Louie is survived by a daughter Julie Kosan-Overton and her husband Darrin of Meadville, a step daughter Traci Burton and her husband Christopher of Aurora, CO, three step grandchildren Alicia Burton, Nicholas Burton, Brent Bowes, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Louie was preceded in death by a sister Rose K. Boyle, two brothers Andrew J. Kosan and Joseph A. Heck.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, May 27 from 3-6 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a Memorial Service will be held at 6 PM.

Louie will be laid to rest in St. Agatha Cemetery, West Mead Twp.

The family would like to thank care givers Debbie Waid, Patty Casper as well as all the doctors, nurses', nurses aides and all the staff at Meadville Medical Center, Wesbury and the Marquette Hospice House for the exceptional care provided.
