Lucy Dividio

Lucy Dividio, 84, of Meadville, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at AristaCare at Park Avenue, Meadville.

Lucy was born in Meadville on May 30, 1933, a daughter of the late Luco and Virginia (O'Valetta) Funciello.

On October 8, 1955 Lucy married Joseph Dividio; he preceded her in death in 2010.

Lucy was a life-long member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society where she had served as President for three terms. For many years Lucy assisted in the Religious Ed Program, was in charge of the Altar Boys, chaired the Columbus Day Dinners, St. Joseph Day Dinners, Italian Festivals and volunteered with cleaning. A former member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Lucy was Past Regent, which is the highest title and position to be attained.

In 1995 Lucy retired from the YWCA where she had been employed for 24 years. She began her career as a nursery worker and eventually became Supervisor, Children's Director and was in charge of Adult Programs. Lucy's concern for the children encouraged her to start a YWCA public nursery, the Happy Apple Preschool, the Majestic Baton Group, children's cooking classes as well as several youth and children classes and programs which involved parents and benefited the children. She previously had been employed by the former Talon, Inc. of Meadville, and during her high school years she was employed by the former Montgomery Wards of Meadville. A 1952 graduate of Meadville High School, Lucy went on to further her education by attending Managerial Classes at the former David Mead Inn as well as in Pittsburgh. Lucy was a charter member of the Meadville High School Band Boosters. Lucy enjoyed doing crafts and flower arranging. She was instrumental in starting the Eat & Travel Club in which she enjoyed participating. An exceptional cook, Lucy participated in several Meadville Tribune Cook Book Contests as well as Crawford County Fair Competitions and won several awards and ribbons. She loved preparing countless meals for her family and extended family. Her happiest memories were of family dinners with her children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters and their families.

Lucy is survived by two daughters Cynthia "Cindy" R. Garber (Todd) of Newnan, GA, Rebecca "Becky" Smith (Tim) of Meadville, six granddaughters Amber Mosbacher (Dave), Christina Bard (Alex), Lindsey Rivers (Jason), Brittany Browski (Ryan), Sarah Potts, Elizabeth Daniels (Bryan), three great granddaughters, three great grandsons, two sisters in law Theresa SanFelice, Paula Fish, several nieces and nephews who were very special to her.

In addition to her husband, Joe, of 55 years, Lucy was preceded in death by a son Daniel J. Dividio, four sisters Theresa Fera, Luci Funciello, Mary Hovenac, Elizabeth "Betty" Yurisic, three brothers Louis, Dominick and Frank Funciello.
