Lucy T. Stake

Lucy T. Stake, 93, of Meadville, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

Lucy was born in Meadville, on December 15, 1927, a daughter of the late Alessandro and Angelina (Morrell) Tartaglione.

On September 4, 1948, Lucy married H. Ted Stake; he preceded her in death on May 29, 2007.

She was an active member of St. Mary of Grace Church where she was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Care & Concern Committee. Lucy’s faith was a significant part of who she was, and it carried her throughout the many stages of her life.

In 1998, Lucy retired after 39 years of service with the former Crawford Store and the former Kindler's Boutique, both of Meadville. She was a Meadville High School graduate and an active volunteer with the RSVP Office of Meadville. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, staying up late for many years watching The Tonight Show and cheering on the Pittsburgh Pirates. She also looked forward to traveling with her beloved sisters and brothers-in-law to Pittsburgh for an annual Oktoberfest for many, many years. Family was everything to Lucy.

Lucy is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Backes (Donald) of Pittsburgh; a granddaughter Lindsay (Sean) Walsh of Pittsburgh; three sisters Mary Consiglio (Frank) of Saegertown, Theresa Smith, Angelina "Angie" Lewis, both of Meadville, a brother Joseph Tartaglione (Carol) also of Meadville, many nieces and nephews. One of her proudest roles was great-grandmother “Lulu” to Landon Walsh.

In addition to her husband, Ted, of 58 years and her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by a sister Jean Guttadauria and a brother James Tartaglione.

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 AM-12:00 PM on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at Epiphany of the Lord Parish, St. Mary of Grace Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Fr. Joe Patrone, Parochial Vicar, officiating.

Lucy will be laid to rest next to her husband, Ted, in St. Brigid Cemetery.
