Lynn Marshall Mailliard, Sr., 88, of 15187 Mailliard Rd., Guys Mills, passed away Monday, August 8th, 2011, at Homestead Hearth Personal Care Home, Centerville.
Lynn was born in Meadville on November 1, 1922, a son of the late William and Adda Belle (Kiser) Mallard.
On October 31, 1942 Lynn married Irene Mary Fleet; she preceded him in death on December 18, 2006.
After 42 years of service, Lynn retired as Foreman from the former Avtex Fibers of Meadville, formerly known as American Viscose. A WW II veteran, Lynn served his country in the US Army from February 2, 1943 until his honorable discharge on January 26, 1946. During that time had attained the rank of 1st Sergeant and was awarded many service medals. He was a graduate of Meadville High School. An avid outdoors man, Lynn enjoyed small game hunting, deer hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle. He leaves many fond memories of playing the accordion and time spent with his family.
Lynn is survived by four children Lynn M. Mailliard Jr. and his wife Pat of Meadville, Mary Ann Benacci and her husband Bob of Guys Mills, William Mailliard and his wife Diann of Guys Mills, Ivy Boor and her husband Joe of Meadville, eight grandchildren Brian Mailliard, Cory Mailliard, Lisa J. Wenzel, Sharie Boyce, Danielle Alexander, Courtney Mailliard, Luke Boor, Alex Boor, five great grandchildren Shane Moore, Jake Wenzel, Ashley Wenzel, Draven Lazorishak and Caden Lazorishak.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Irene of 65 years, Lynn was preceded in death by a daughter Nancy Mailliard, a grandson Lynn Mailliard II, six brothers and sisters Wilfred Mailliard, Thelma Wasson, Marian Porter, Doris Porter, Earl Malliard and Merle Malliard.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 7-9 at Stephen P Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at Kiser Hill Cemetery, East Mead Township, at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 12th, 2011 with Pastor Glen Van Cise officiating.
Interment with Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will take place in Kiser Hill Cemetery, East Mead Twp.
