Madeline Ricci Mangino, 93, of Meadville, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Friendship Village of South Hills, Upper St. Clair.

Madeline was born in Meadville, on April 21, 1931, a daughter of the late Gennaro and Magenta (Palla) Ricci.

On January 9, 1954 Madeline married Ralph "Lou" Mangino; he preceded her in death on October 19, 2013.

A lifetime member of St. Mary of Grace Church, she was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She volunteered her time with many church activities.

Following her 1949 graduation from Meadville High School, Madeline became employed in the Credit Department of the former Montgomery Ward's Department Store. Once she married and started her family, she became a stay at home mom. As her children got older, she worked weekends as a hostess for her brother's business, the former Ricci's Restaurant. From 1970 until 1987 she and her husband, Ralph, owned and operated the former Dante's Restaurant. Upon the sale of the restaurant, Madeline returned to Montgomery Wards where she worked for another ten+ years. No matter where Madeline worked, she demonstrated a strong and honest work ethic which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. Over the years Madeline enjoyed bowling, especially with her Plaza Lanes league, reading, exercising, shopping, playing Mahjong and Five Crown. She loved following the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. She also enjoyed traveling, especially with her daughters and their families. When it came to her grandchildren, she never missed an event; be it hockey, tennis, soccer, theater, or basketball, she was present regardless of the weather. A people person, Madeline enjoyed the wonderful friends she made while living at Hunter's Ridge and loved her Friday night dinners at Vernon Fire Hall. Madeline will be remembered as a proud and loving wife, mother, and grandmother; her family meant the world to her. She will be sadly missed.

Madeline is survived by three daughters Lynn M. Spadacene (Joseph), Joni Selep (Joseph) both of Pittsburgh, Jill Brown (Darryl) of Monroe, GA; eight grandchildren Ricci Lynn Spadacene, David Joseph Spadacene (Emily), Sara Mangino Spadacene, Justin Joseph Selep (Abby), Joseph Ralph Selep (Sarah), Jordan Elizabeth Selep, Corey Michael Brown, Connor Joseph Brown (Ashley); two great grandchildren Miles Mangino Selep, Emmett Joseph Brown, plus Baby Spadacene expected in the next two weeks; many nieces, nephews and good friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Ralph, of 59 years, Madeline was preceded in death by three sisters Jean Phelps, Lillian Colter, Alice Owen; and three brothers Dan Ricci, Victor Ricci, and Victor Ricci, for whom the second Victor was named after following his death at age 5.
