Madelyn I. Saputo

Madelyn I. Saputo, 76, of 14714 Park Ave. Ext., Meadville, formerly of 178 Boynton St., Meadville, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Meadville Rehab. & Nursing Center.
Madelyn was born in Meadville, on December 8, 1934, a daughter of the late Joseph and Nicolina (Giordano) Saputo.
She was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.
Over the years Madelyn had been employed by the former Wooden Keg, the former Meadville Italian Bakery and for the former Meadville City Hospital as a bookkeeper. She was a 1952 graduate of Meadville High School. An animal lover, Madelyn was a strong supporter of the Humane Society and of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (A.S.P.C.A.) She enjoyed writing, cooking and doing word searches. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Madelyn is survived by a daughter Allyson Shade and her companion Jack Kennedy of West Hickory, two grandchildren Ciara Shade and Christopher Shade, two sisters Philomena Furno, Esther Phelps both of Meadville, a brother Carl Saputo of Victorville, CA, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Madelyn was preceded in death by three brothers Joseph Saputo, Jr., Vincent Saputo and Abey Saputo.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 5-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335 where a scripture service will be conducted at 7:45 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 26, 2011 with Fr. Raymond Gramata, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
