Saegertown

Mae Marie Lenhart, 94, of Saegertown, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, at home, surrounded by her family. 

Mae was born in Meadville, on September 14, 1930, a daughter of the late Guy and Georgia (Davison) Wetsell.

After nearly 20 years of service with Penncrest School District, Mae retired in 1997 as an elementary school secretary having started her career as a cafeteria worker. A 1949 graduate of Saegertown High School, Mae's passion for learning continued throughout her life. As a charter member of Saegertown Heritage Society, Mae was deeply committed to preserving the history and heritage of her hometown. She enjoyed a range of hobbies that reflected her love for nature and creativity, including flower and vegetable gardening, quilting, and traveling with her husband and children as they were growing up. Mae will be deeply missed but warmly remembered by her family and all who were fortunate enough to walk alongside her in life.

She is survived by two children, Diane Priestes of Erie and Gerry E. Lenhart of Saegertown. Mae was a loving grandmother to four grandchildren: Andrew Priestes (Jenny), Adam Priestes (Jenn), Mackenzie Lenhart (Emily), and Mollie Lenhart (Spencer). Additionally, she is remembered fondly by her five great-grandchildren: Noah, Luke, Zoey, Cole, and Kira Mae Priestes. 

In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her husband Harold, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage, and her son Allen Scott Lenhart. 

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 4:00-5:30 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 330 BROAD ST., SAEGERTOWN.

Mae will be laid to rest in Venango Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saegertown Heritage Society, PO Box 449, Saegertown, PA 16433.
