Marcelline E. Jenkins, 92, of Commerce City, CO, formerly of Meadville, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at home.

Marcelline was born in Meadville, on March 8, 1929, a daughter of the late Leroy and Annie Neal (Barksdale) Walker.

In 1950 Marcelline married David L. Jenkins, Sr.; he preceded her in death.

When living in Meadville, Marcelline was an active member of St. John Missionary Full Baptist Gospel Church, where her voice was showcased as a member of the Senior Choir for 20 years. Baptized at age 14, she loved her Lord.

Marcelline was a 1949 graduate of Central High School, Newark, NJ. In 1970 she was a member of Crawford County's first graduating class of Licensed Practical Nurses. She went on to earn her Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts from Penn State Beherend College in 1988. Marcelline began her nursing career in Pennsylvania at Meadville's former Mead Nursing Home and the J.F.K. Center in Erie. After moving to Florida, she worked at various nursing homes until retirement, then volunteered with several veteran organizations. A lifetime member of Disabled Veterans Auxiliary, she was also President of AMVETS Auxiliary in St Petersburg, FL. She served as Chaplain of AMVETS Honor Guard for seven years. Additionally, she was a member of Orpha Chapter 21, Order of Easter Star in Erie, and was ordained as Associate Minister of People's Spiritualist Church, St. Petersburg, FL. Marcelline's family was very important to her. She enjoyed planning and organizing family reunions each year that she was able. She loved staying in touch with others and did so even into her 90s with facebook.

Marcelline leaves behind four children David L. Jenkins, Jr. of Edinboro, Aleda Bass of Meadville, Darlene Jenkins Strickland of Aurora, CO, Beverly Jenkins, with whom she lived, of Commerce City, CO; seven grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren; sisters Ethel, Rose, Edith; a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marcelline was preceded in death by three children Brenda Louise, Leroy Marcellus, Gregory Darnell; brothers Richard, Alfred and Roy; sisters Viola Mae, Betty Ann and Helen; other family and friends.

Visitation is from 3-5 PM on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

A Going Home Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, July 23, at St. John Full Gospel Missionary Baptist Church, 792 N. Main Street, with Overseer Cameron Bowman officiating. For those not able to attend, the service will be live streamed via facebook live at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc.

Marcelline will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery.
