Margaret "Peggy" S. McHale

Margaret "Peggy" S. McHale, 88, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, at home surrounded by her devoted husband, Pat, and her loving family. 

Peggy was born in Meadville, on August 29, 1936, a daughter of the late Adelmo and Rose (SanFelice) Porfilio.

On March 10, 1989 Peggy married Pat McHale; with whom she spent 35 wonderful years. She had previously been married to Stan Rugala and Jim Simpson who preceded her in death. 

A lifetime member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, she was also a member and past officer of the Altar Rosary Society. 

Peggy was a 1954 graduate of Meadville High School. She worked various jobs over the years with her last as secretary for M.G.S. Production. A member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Peg was also a member and past officer of the Italian Civic Club Auxiliary. For many years she enjoyed being a league member at Plaza Bowling and Center Bowling Lanes. Her fondness for casinos took her to Niagara Falls and Las Vegas. Time spent with family and friends was very important to her. She delighted in talking to her friends in Italian. One of the highlights of Peggy's life was going to Italy with her girls. Her family was of utmost importance to her. Peggy's high spirited personality will remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Pat, Peggy is survived by four children Kathy Rugala Faller of Conneaut Lake, Gina Rugala Lowrie of Concord, OH, Tina Rugala Knapp, Allison McQuone, both of Meadville; four grandchildren Lindsey Mischler (Steve), Benjamin Knapp (Jess), Vince Knapp, Chuck McQuone (Emily); three great grandchildren Owen Mischler, Emma Knapp, Carson Knapp; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by three children David Rugala, Annie Simpson, Dyanna Simpson Holeva; siblings John Porfilio, Hazel Steele, Mary Cross, and Rose Risher.

Family and friends are invited to call from 2-5 PM on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a CD of A Service will take place at 4 PM and a Scripture Service at 4:30 PM.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, February 24, at St. Mary of Grace Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Fr. Mark Hoffman officiating.

Peggy will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery.
