Marguerite 'Aunt Marge' Louise Giddings, 93, of 22264 Hunter Road, Meadville, passed away Monday, December 19th, 2011, at Meadville Medical Center.
Marguerite was born in Meadville, on February 18, 1918, a daughter of the late William and Ella R. (Eggert) Hunter.
On April 12, 1941, Marguerite married William H. Giddings; he preceded her in death on January 12, 2000.
She was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Womens Group.
Aunt Marge was employed as a registered nurse. Over the years, she had taken care of numerous patients in their homes in the Buffalo and Harrisburg areas. A graduate of Meadville High School, Aunt Marge was also a graduate of Buffalo School of Nursing. After relocating from Harrisburg to the Meadville area, she enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a member of East Mead Fire Hall Auxiliary, a charter member of the Cootie Club, a member of the Crawford County Bowling Hall of Fame and treasurer of the Crawford County Bowling Association for over 50 years. She also had served for several years as secretary for Center Bowlerettes up until the time that Center Bowl moved. For many years she hosted an annual Easter Egg hunt at her home which at times brought over 60 family members together. Aunt Marge loved watching and feeding her birds. A people person, she was an 'Aunt' to anyone who knew her.
She is survived by a sister-in-law Winsome Hunter of Meadville, four cousins, 11 nieces and nephews, 25 great nieces and nephews, several great great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, William, of 58 years, Aunt Marge was preceded in death by three brothers Paul G. Hunter, Richard 'Dick' B. Hunter, William E. Hunter, a sister Harriett Eckart and a niece Judy Hamilton.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 23rd, with Pastor Alice McClymonds of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and Rev. Alan Macy, brother-in-law, officiating.
Interment will take place in Kiser Hill Cemetery, East Mead Twp.
