Marian Louise (Pearce) Powell, 90, of Saegertown, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown
Marian was born in Sandy Lake Township, Mercer, on October 22, 1929, a daughter of the late Harry and Rhoda (Ibbs) Pearce. Marian's mother died at an early age and Marian was lovingly raised by her maternal grandmother Ida Ibbs.
On February 19, 1949 Marian married Lawrence "Cecil" Powell; he survives. They were blessed to have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last year.
Marian was a graduate of Stoneboro High School where she enjoyed participating in various sports. She was a member of the Methodist faith. A hard worker all of her life, Marian retired from the former GTI Corporation after 35 years of service. She later reentered the workforce where she was employed by Giant Eagle until her second retirement at the age of 80.
Marian's favorite pastimes were walking, reading and working on jigsaw puzzles. What she enjoyed the most was attending and cheering for her grandchildren and great grandchildren in all of their activities. Marian and Cecil enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with her sister and brother in law, Evelyn and Jim Alexander.
In addition to her husband, Marian is survived by three daughters Judy Mook (Ken), Sharon Schlosser (Frank) both of Saegertown, Deborah Burke (John) of Berlin, MD; five grandchildren Carter Mook (Josie), Aimee DeLizio (Jim), Chad Schlosser (Judy), Lacey Maze (TJ), Stephanie Burke; six great grandchildren Courtney and Dominic DeLizio, Doreen Mook, Madelyn, Joseph and Andrew Maze; step grandson John Douglas Burke; and step great grandson Logan Coker.
In addition to her parents, Marian was preceded in death by an infant daughter, three brothers Raymond, Ralph and Paul Pearce, and a sister Evelyn Alexander.
The family would like to thank everyone at Crawford County Care Center for the special care given to our wife, mother and grandmother.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, January 4, 2020, from 1:30-3:00 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 330 BROAD STREET, SAEGERTOWN, where Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev. James Riley of First Baptist Church, Townville, officiating.
Marian will be laid to rest in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marian's name to Alzheimer's Association-Greater PA Chapter, 1600 Peninsula Dr., Suite 15, Erie, PA 16505.
