Marian Louise Sheakley

Marian Louise (Lesher) Prody Sheakley, 97, of 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, formerly of Saegertown, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Meadville Medical Center. She became a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community in January, 2013.

Marian was born in Meadville, in the home of her mother's relatives, on May 4, 1918, a daughter of the late John Glenn and Alice Diana (Johnson) Lesher.

In October, 1937 Marian married Herbert Leroy Prody; he preceded her in death on April 3, 1941 as the result of an automobile accident leaving behind their daughter Yvonne. Subsequently she married Guy Sheakley on May 17, 1946; he had two daughters, Donna and Joyce. Together Marian and Guy had two children Alice and Kenneth. Guy preceded Marian in death.

After 32 years of service Marian retired from the Crawford County Home where she had been employed as a Nurses Aide. During WW II she worked in Titusville making artillery shells for the war effort. She had also been employed by the former Talon, Inc.

Marian is survived by her five children Yvonne Kline and her husband Allen, Sr. of Stoneboro, Donna Butler and her husband Brian, Joyce Offi and her husband Donald both of Meadville, Alice Sprong and her husband Bill, Ken Sheakley and his wife Janet both of Saegertown, 12 grandchildren, many great and great, great grandchildren, a step brother Thomas Green and his wife Vi of Erie.

In addition to her parents and her husbands, Marian was preceded in death by a great grandchild, a sister Stella Hall, twin brothers Walter and Harry Lesher, and her step mother Sarah Moore Lesher.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, from 4-5 PM at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 330 Broad St., Saegertown, where Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 PM with Kenneth Hough, Pastor of Watson Run Church of God, officiating.

Marian will be laid to rest in Sheakleyville Cemetery.
