Marilyn Jean Hughes

Marilyn Jean Hughes, 64, of 160 Walker Dr., Meadville, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018, at home.

Marilyn was born in Memphis, TN on February 17, 1954, a daughter of the late James and Essie Lee (Rice) Wofford.

On August 8, 1997 Marilyn married Howard "Hugo" Hughes, Sr.; he predeceased her on February 2, 2006.

She was a member of Beacon Liberty Street Temple Church of God in Christ. Marilyn attended Meadville schools and had worked as a care giver for the mentally challenged. Most recently she was employed by Allegheny College. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting and doing puzzles.

Marilyn is survived by a son Coley Brown of Meadville, seven grandchildren Marquis, Shakeal, Nautical, Jaquai, Naja, Rakim, Taryne, two great grandchildren Briella, Zamiyah, two sisters Ida Jefferson (Sam), St. Louis, MO, Alice Wofford, Erie, three brothers Cordie Wofford, Rev. Larry Wofford (Tina), Elvis Wofford all of Meadville, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marilyn was preceded in death by two brothers Charles and James Wofford, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 6-8 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

A Going Home Service will be held at Beacon Liberty Street Temple Church of God in Christ, 11292 Liberty St. Ext., Meadville, at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 16th, with her brother, Rev. Larry Wofford, officiating.

Marilyn will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Beacon Liberty Street Temple Church of God in Christ, 11292 Liberty St. Ext., Meadville, PA 16335.
