Marjorie V. Norton, 92, of 20881 State Hwy. 198, Saegertown, formerly of 24179 Dibble Hill Road, Saegertown, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Meadville Medical Center.

Marjorie was born in Cambridge Springs, on September 23, 1921, a daughter of the late Dazelle and Laura (Brown) VanMarter.

On June 29, 1946 Marjorie married George M. Norton, Jr.; he preceded her in death.

She was a member of First Church of God, Cambridge Springs.

In April, 1984 Marjorie retired as Accounts Payable Clerk from the Commissioners Office of the Crawford County Court House where she had been employed for nearly 14 years. She had previously been employed by the former DePascal Travel Agency, Cargo Dry Cleaning as well as many restaurants including the former Norton Hillview Restaurant and the lunch counter at the Market House. Even in her very early years Marjorie was always willing to work doing most anything from selling apples and beans to washing and cleaning for others. Prior to her marriage and raising her family, she had been employed by the former Vances Ice Cream Shop, the former Georges Donut Shop, the former Ehergot Restaurant and the former Fahrs Style Shop. Marjorie was a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a former member of the Republican Women and was proud to have had her picture taken with former Texas Governor John Connally. She enjoyed baking wedding cakes for others. She was well known for raising rasberries and baking delicious homemade pies. Over the years she made and sold several thousand pies. Marjories also enjoyed visits with her children and grandchildren.

Marjorie is survived by three children Daniel D. Norton and his wife Carol of Saegertown, Marjorie Donnell and her husband Harry E., Thomas G. Norton both of Cambridge Springs, seven grandchildren Jeff Norton and his wife Stacey, Jeremy Donnell and his wife Mary, Heather Whitney and her husband Kevin, Laura Kimmel and her husband William, Dale Norton, Brian Norton and his wife Sandy, Jennifer Halsey and her husband Curtis, ten great grandchildren Derek, Austin, Martin, Hannah, Mollie, Madison, Makenzie, Levi, Natalie, Landon, six step great grandchildren Isabella, Zoe, Christopher, Sarah, Sergy, Oleg, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, George, Marjorie was preceded in death by a son Charles M. Norton, a grandson, Baby Norton, a brother Robert VanMarter, a sister Winifred Rice and a nephew Robert Rice.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 6-8 and also on Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 11-1 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 330 Broad St., Saegertown, where Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM with Rev. James Callender, Pastor of First Church of God, Cambridge Springs, officiating.

Marjorie will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
