Mary Ann Affinito

Mary Ann Affinito, 80, of Guys Mills, passed away Monday, November 11 2019, at Marquette Hospice House, Meadville.

Mary Ann was born in Erie, on October 19, 1939, a daughter of the late Anthony "Tony" and Yolanda (Fava) Grippe.

On October 26, 1963 Mary Ann married Salvatore "Sam" Affinito; he survives.

In addition to her husband, Sam, of 56 years, Mary Ann is survived by two sons; Ralph J. Affinito (wife Peggy) of Shenandoah, TX, Sam A. Affinito (husband PJ Graziani) of Seattle, WA, and three grandchildren Ethan Schmaltz, Salvatore Affinito, Raphael Affinito, a brother Joseph Grippe of Marienville, a sister in law Linda Grippe of Richmond, VA, two nieces and a nephew.

Following her graduation from Erie East High School, Mary Ann graduated from Edinboro College with her Degree in Elementary Education. After completing her student teaching in Erie, she became employed by Crawford Central School District where she taught 4th grade at Neason Hill Elementary School. After seven years Mary Ann left teaching to became a full-time wife and mom. Mary Ann loved being a homemaker and raising her family. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, working on the farm and being outdoors.

She was an active member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed volunteering for funeral dinners, the Columbus Day Dinners and other church events.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents and her brother James Grippe.

Family and friends are invited to call from 10-11 AM on Friday, November 15, 2019 at St. Mary of Grace Church, 1085 Water St. Meadville, where a Memorial mass will follow at 11 AM with Fr. Andrew Boyd, Parochial Vicar, officiating.

Mary Ann will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Ann's memory to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
