Mary Ann (Valella) Groger, 73, of 10932 Culver Dr., Meadville, passed away Wednesday, June 16th, 2010 at Meadville Medical Center.
Mary Ann was born in Meadville on December 23, 1936, a daughter of the late Frank 'Stud' and Theresa (Euliano) Valella.
On January 9, 1960 Mary Ann married DeWayne E. Groger; he survives.
She was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas, Conneaut Lake.
After 41 years of service, Mary Ann retired from the Telephone Company which over the years was known as AT & T, Ma Bell and American Bell Co. Following her retirement she served as President of the Meadville Life Member Club, Fort Pitt Chapter, Verizon Telephone Pioneers of America and as Chapter President of the Fort Pitt Chapter from 1989-1990. Mary Ann served in her present capacity as Meadville Life Member Club President for the past five years. She was a member of Conneaut Lake Volunteer Fire Dept., the Historical Society of Conneaut Lake, Elks BPO #219 and VFW #2006. She enjoyed flowers, flower gardening and floral arranging. Mary Ann had a deep love for her family especially her nieces, grand nieces and grand nephews.
In addition to her husband DeWayne of 50 years, Mary Ann is survived by two brothers John F. Valella and his wife Barb of Meadville, Vito P. Valella and his wife Gerry of Kalamazoo, MI, five nieces Michelle, Lisa, Deborah, Patti, Chrissy, six grand nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 3-7 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335 where a scripture service will be conducted at 3:00 PM. Family and friends are also invited to call on Tuesday from 9-9:45 AM at Our Lady Queen of the Americas, 155 S. 9th St., Conneaut Lake.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of the Americas, Conneaut Lake, at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010, with Rev. Stephen A. Anderson, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Our Lady Queen of the Americas Roman Catholic Church, 155 S. 9th St., Conneaut Lake, PA 16316.
