Mary Elizabeth Varano

Mary Elizabeth Varano, 99, of Meadville, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Juniper Village.

Mary was born in Meadville, on November 6, 1919, a daughter of the late Marco and Carolina (Rondinara) DeSantis.

On September 8, 1945 Mary married Dominic "Mick" Varano; he preceded her in death on April 12, 2011.

She was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and had been a member of the former Sodality Club.

For many years Mary was employed as a Crossing Guard for the City of Meadville. During WW II she was employed by the former Talon, Inc. of Meadville as an Inspector.

Mary is survived by two sons Robert Varano and his wife Anne of Cleveland, OH, Glenn Varano of Olympia, WA, four grandchildren Mary Anne Varano (Ben Kosewski), Christopher Varano, Drew Varano, Paul Varano, two great grandsons Dominic Kosewski, Vincent Kosewski, a sister Ida Pierce of Meadville, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mick, of 65 years, Mary was preceded in death by three sisters Theresa Montana, Nellie Abbondanza and Clara Rosenberg, four brothers Henry, Jack, Salvatore and Samuel DeSantis.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 4-7 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Scripture Service will be held at 6:30 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, with Fr. Andrew Boyd, Parochial Vicar, officiating.

Mary will be laid to rest with her husband, Mick, in St. Brigid Cemetery.
