Mary Ellen Tau, 79, of 31 N. Park Ave, Meadville, formerly of 21404 Gospel Hill Road, Venango, passed away Friday, April 27th, 2012, at Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville.
Mary was born on February 21, 1933, a daughter of the late Harry and Rhea (Weamer) Lasher.
On September 22, 1951 Mary married Everett Tau; he preceded her in death on January 14, 2006.
She was a member of New Beginnings Church of God, Meadville.
Mary retired from Edinboro University where she had been employed in the Housekeeping Dept. She had previously been employed at the former Presbyterian Home in Cambridge Springs. She was a graduate of Cambridge Springs High School.
Mary is survived by a daughter Sharon Nealson and her husband Stacy of Pocatello, ID, a son Chris Tau and his wife Trudy of Cambridge Springs, three step grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, two sisters Margaret Barrett of Edinboro, Hazel Brown and her husband Howard of Cambridge Springs, three brothers Frank Lasher of Atlanta, GA, Ward Lasher of Venango, Paul Lasher and his wife Verda of Venango, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband Everett of 54 years, Mary was preceded in death by a son-in-law Robert Sharp.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, April 30, from 3-5 PM and also on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 from 10-11 AM at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, with Pastor Temple Jarrell of New Beginnings Church of God officiating.
Interment will take place in Venango Cemetery, Venango.
