Mary Lee Brooks

Mary Lee Brooks, 73, Guys Mills, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021, at home, surrounded by her family.

Mary was born in Meadville, on December 1, 1947, a daughter of the late George and Helen (Howard) Tomer.

For more than 40 years Mary shared her life with Clark Bryant; he preceded her in death on July 17, 2020.

Mary was an active and longtime member of New Richmond United Methodist Church where she assumed a leadership role in many aspects of the church including as Choir Director, `Supervisor of Children's Programs, the Children's Choir, Woman's Group, Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher, and Trustee. She was also involved in various evening church activities including The Art Festival and The Evening of Songs events.

Mary was a 1965 graduate of Townville High School. Over the years she was employed in the Admissions Office of Edinboro College, in the office of Dr. Stanley Gurney, as a Program Director and Educator of the HIV/AIDS Council of Erie County, and as office manager for Dr. Curtis Helgert in Townville, from where she retired in 2017. Mary enjoyed all things music and was a member of Crazy Eights, Suzie's Floozies and Octet Singing Groups performing at various community events. Mary will be remembered for her many contributions to church and community; but her greatest legacy is that of loving mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed.

Mary is survived by two children Jeff Brooks (companion Lori Connick) of Venango, Tamatha Twiford of Saegertown; five grandchildren Melanie and Hillary Twiford, Tyler, Payton and Porter Brooks; a sister Judy Smock (Ken); a brother John Tomer (Vickie); a sister in law Betty Tomer, all of Guys Mills; four nephews Joe Smock (Melissa), Corey Smock (Brittany), Doug Tomer (Heather), and Scott Tomer (Amanda).

In addition to her parents and her soul mate, Clark, Mary was preceded in death by a brother Paul Tomer; and her son in law John Twiford.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, June 4, 2021, from 4-7 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 330 BROAD ST., SAEGERTOWN.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday at New Richmond United Methodist Church, 29776 Route 77, Guys Mills, with Pastor Harry Zurasky officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty St., Meadville, PA 16335.
