Melvin L. Speck, 64, of 17725 Ash Rd., Saegertown, formerly of Houston, TX, passed away Sunday, January 15th, 2012 at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
Melvin was born in Houston, TX, on September 23, 1947, a son of the late Melvin D. and Gladys (Ellisor) Speck.
Melvin married Linda Sue Worley; she preceded him in death onFebruary 17, 2004.
While living in Texas, Melvin was a member of the Baptist Church.
For many years Melvin owned and operated a salvage yard and towing company. He also served as a constable in Harris County, TX. He was a 1963 high school graduate and a 1967 graduate of Texas University where he earned a degree in pain management. Melvin enjoyed fishing, hunting and following football, especially the Houston Texans, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Melvin is survived by four children Darlene Noller and her husband Mark of Saucier, MS, Keith Speck and his wife Michelle of Houston, TX, Judy Denise Harrington and her husband Larry of Saegertown, Michael Speck and his wife Susan of Houston, TX, 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, a sister Judy Ann Stowe and her husband Tom of Houston, TX, a niece and a nephew.
In addition to his parents and wife, Gladys, Melvin was preceded in death by a niece.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of family.
