Merle 'Bob' R. Gawne

Merle 'Bob' R. Gawne, 77, of 16348 Carr Hill Rd., Meadville, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at the Erie VA Medical Center.

Bob was born in Meadville, on June 19, 1936, a son of the late Douglas F. and Ruth (Kohler) Gawne.

Bob was employed by the Electrical Workers Union out of Cleveland, OH. A US Navy veteran Bob entered the US Navy on October 11, 1954, serving his country honorably until his discharge on September 10, 1958. He went on to serve an additional four years in the Navy Reserves. He was a member of the Hill N Gully Riders where he spent alot of time riding his Honda motorcycle. Bob loved being an aviator, owning his own plane and maintaining his pilots license. He also enjoyed being a car buff, camping and traveling, especially to the AirVenture Oshkosh Air Show.

Bob is survived by a brother Edgar Gawne of Cortand, OH, a niece and several nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a brother Douglas F. Gawne, Jr.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of family.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
