Michael E. Wilburn

Michael Eugene Wilburn, 71, of Pittsburgh, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014, at VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System.

Michael was born April 2, 1943, in Meadville to the late Charles and Katherine (Wilson) Wilburn.

He was a graduate of Meadville High School and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during 1961 to 1966. After being honorably discharged, he made his home in Buffalo, New York and Upper Marlboro, MD. He relocated to the Pittsburgh area in July 2013.

He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Washington Redskins. He also enjoyed cooking, his specialty was fried chicken, and playing bid whist.

He is survived by his sister, Leona Overton of Meadville, a grandson, Joseph Wilburn and a special friend, Sharon Wynn of Pittsburgh. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Wilburn, Jr., two brothers, Donald Wilburn and Charles Wilburn and a sister, Ellen Brinson.

Family will greet friends on Saturday August 23 from 11 a.m. until time of the service at 12:00 noon at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, with Rev. Berta Newsome Jones, Pastor of United Faith Fellowship Church of God, officiating.
