Michael K. Zimmerman

Michael "Mike" K. Zimmerman, 62, of Meadville, passed away Monday, November 28, 2022, at St. Vincent Health System, Erie surrounded by family.

Michael was born in Kutztown, on December 7, 1959, a son of the late Henry Neil and Mary Lou (Derr) Zimmerman.

On August 5, 1989 Michael married Joanie L. Zuccaro; she survives.

He was a member of St. Mary of Grace Church.

After 36 years of service Mike retired in March of 2019 from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection where he worked in the Waste Water Management Department. Earning his BS Degree from Penn State University in Environmental Engineering in 1982, Mike was also a 1977 graduate of Kutztown High School.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, biking, gardening, and working in his yard.  He rarely missed a day at the gym and could often be found coaching his children in various sports or cheering them on from the sidelines.  His happiest moments were spent surrounded by family and friends and he looked forward to annual beach vacations. His children were his greatest accomplishment and his family will miss him dearly.

In addition to his wife, Joanie, of 33 years, Mike is survived by three children Morgan Gregor (Jason) of Meadville, Brandon Zimmerman (Gena) of Chicago, IL, Logan Zimmerman (Emily) of Arlington, VA; a grandson Landon; a sister Shelly Mertz of Kutztown; two brothers Dean Zimmerman (Taren) of New Tripoli, Gregory Zimmerman of Leesport; many nieces and nephews.

Michael was grateful for the support of his family and friends throughout his recent battle with ALS.

A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at The Epiphany of the Lord Parish, St. Mary of Grace Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Fr. Joe Petrone, Parochial Vicar, officiating.
