Nancy L. Cornell

Nancy L. Cornell, 73, of 21615 Springs Rd. Ext., Meadville, passed away Monday, February 5, 2018, at UPMC-Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Nancy was born in Meadville, on August 26, 1944, a daughter of the late Lee and Shirley (Beatty) Gehrt.

On May 18, 1991 Nancy married Merle J. Cornell; he preceded her in death on February 20, 2000. She had previously been married to Edmund Dean who survives.

Nancy retired from Wesbury United Methodist Community where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 23 years. Following her retirement she volunteered there for another five years. She had attended Bible Baptist Church on Livermore Road, Meadville. A Meadville High School graduate, Nancy attended Robert Morris College where she studied business. Nancy enjoyed crocheting, knitting, following the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Pittsburgh Pirates and collecting light houses. Her family was very important to her. She will be sadly missed.

Nancy is survived by two sons Scott Dean of Mt. Pocono, Edmund J. Dean and his wife Laverne of Cochranton, five grandchildren Courtney Meredith and her wife Valerie, Joseph Dean, Samantha Dean, Erin West, Parker Dean, nine great grandchildren, two brothers Bill Gehrt and his wife Darlene of NC, Bob Gehrt and his wife Gloria of NE, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by a son Michael Dean.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 4-6 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 PM with Phillip Thomas, Pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating.

Nancy will be laid to rest in Kiser Hill Cemetery, East Mead Twp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 210 W. 6th Street Erie, PA 16507.
